Garden Time

We’ve managed to avoid fall frost so-far. Most things are still alive and growing even though the nights are getting quite cool. Last Monday Stewart had a cross country run out at Oakville and came back with a critter we wish would have been killed by the frost. He had a Deer Tick on him. Fortunately it hadn’t started burrowing and he has been fine. Although we can have lots of wood ticks around our yard we haven’t seen any deer ticks before so we are fairly certain it must have been picked up at the Oakville sportsplex while he was running around. Fall means garden harvest time but we are lucky to have anything from our garden. An early summer hailstorm badly shredded our garden. Then, droughty conditions occurred for most of the summer and we didn’t bother watering much because we weren’t sure it was worth it following the hail. Finally to top it off the local Raccoons ate all our sweet corn. None-the-less we have harvested some vegetables. A picture of today’s haul follows:
